YAMAHA: Another MT-09 version on the way!

Joining the recently released MT-09 and MT-09SP, Yamaha’s confirmed it’s got another version of its nuts naked on the way – and it’s going to come kitted out with its clever computerised transmission system

We’ve already brought you the lowdown on Yamaha’s new Y-AMT Automated Manual Transmission technology – but now finally we had word about which bike’s going to be the first to feature the new set up. 

There’s little surprise in the choice: the firm’s MT-09 naked roadster will have the automatic gearbox as an option for 2025, alongside a conventional transmission variant. The Y-AMT drops both the gear and clutch levers, replacing them with computerised actuators, which operate in either fully automatic ‘D’ or manual override modes. A paddle switch set up on the bars lets the rider change up and down in manual mode, and there’s a sporty ‘D+’ auto mode as well, which holds the revs a bit higher before shifts, for stronger performance.
