Spanish football superstar Xabi Alonso has just bought a custom BMW R 100 from Madrid based Café Racer Dreams.
Professional athletes often have clauses in their contracts that prohibit them from getting up to anything considered too risky – and one of those ‘risky’ activities is motorcycling. But with just a month to go until Alonso hangs up his boots for good, the Spanish footballer has decided to celebrate ‘his retirement’ by picking up a BMW Café Racer.

More specifically, he’s bought a BMW R 100 and asked Madrid based Café Racer Dreams to customise it to his tastes. They’ve modified the suspension, handlebars, mirrors, front brakes, wheels, brake pumps and the seat too. Alonso reckons that his new BMW R100 celebrates the best of his footballing career: fusing Spanish (Real Madrid) and German (Bayern Munich) design and technology.
Xabi Alonso said he has chosen a motorcycle and not a car because he ‘likes the feeling of freedom they convey’ – and has already said that he wants to use the bike to travel, with several routes in mind.
