Check out this absolutely gorgeous Moto Guzzi Le Mans – the first bike to come out of the newly formed Death Machines Of London workshop.
The name for the company comes from owner James Hilton’s father who, after a young James went for a motorcycle ride with his Uncle some thirty years ago, said to his son that: “Motorcycles are death machines, son.”

The phrase stuck and now we’ve got DMOL, and this is their first build.
It looks like a stunningly-well put together motorcycle and that’s probably got something to do with Hilton’s background. He co-founded AKQA which is an agency that works on diverse projects like the Mortal Kombat video game and Rolls Royce’s website.
In terms of physical changes to the 1981 Le Mans Mark 2, there’s not a huge amount to tell you about other than the motor being taken out to 950cc with polished and balanced crankshaft, gas-flowed heads and new valves.
The engine gets a pair of 40mm Dell’Orto carbs with accelerator pumps and a lightweight clutch and flywheel. The exhaust is custom made and includes Moto Guzzi’s 1100 down pipes. The suspension is re-worked and re-valved, too.
We love the details on the clocks, nestled behind the custom-made fairing and seated just in front of the bespoke petrol tank. The dials are original (but refreshed) and are accompanied by an on-off switch from a 1940 Merlon Spitfire. Oh man…
