OK, maybe the custom-thing isn’t actually over as such – but we’re all a bit open-jawed having seen these pictures. This was a 1996 Honda XR650L that’s been given a, quote: “More rugged and ready-for-anything aesthetic”.
Umm… OK. It looks quite ridiculous to us, but someone out there loves it enough to have it built by Virginia based custom shop Classified Moto in the USA.
To quote the Highsnobiety website which has written about this bike (and to kind of underline the point we’re trying to make when we saw this): “This bike isn’t for the kind of rider who wants all of the adventure with all of the comfort – this thing is hot-blooded and ready to burn your ass with its exhaust pipe. But that’s not to say it’s inflexible, whether you’re blasting around the city, sliding through the dunes, or slinging gravel, dirt or snow, the bike will handle whatever you can throw at it.”
The bike has STI Black Diamond tyres (STI? Really), a Honda CN185T tank ans custom exhaust and intake. It gets, as you might expect, an upholstered waxed canvas and leather seat (of course it does) and a swingarm from a 2006 Triumph Sprint ST swing arm.
