The motorcycle is called the Spirit of Passion, and follows other BMW R18 custom models created by Roland Sands and Bernhaud Naumann.
BMW Motorrad said on their YouTube channel: “This won’t be just any old, stunning PR bike. It will be one with a soul, a spirit.” In just a few words Dirk Oehlerking makes clear what he – and his modified R 18 – stand for. Kingston Custom bikes are always something very special.
“They have names such as White Phantom or Good Ghost. And that’s not the only reason they put the fear of God into some and make the hair on enthusiasts’ necks stand on end. Even Dirk himself is gripped by total passion each time he does as much as think about his projects.
“However, there was something else involved in the R 18 “mega project”: a responsibility like never before.”
About the custom BMW R18
The big eye-catcher is the Kingston fairing. The bodywork is finished in handmade Kingston design, as are the handlebars and mudguard.
The BMW R 18 exhaust has been modified by Oehlerking in Kingston Roadster style, while his saddle is drawn from the range of universal accessories. The turn indicators have been replaced with Kellermann indicators and the LED front headlight is now integrated in the fairing. T
he original paintwork and lines have been adopted for the fairing and wing, with the addition of some details in Kingston style. The wheel suspension and fuel tank are original.
