We all know that actor Brad Pitt loves his bikes, he’s got a growing collection and recently part-funded and narrated the MotoGP film Hitting the Apex, but his latest motorcycle purchase might raise a few eyebrows.
Pitt has splashed out a quarter of a million punds on a rare WWII motorbike. The motorbike itself is a bike and sidecar combination built in 1942, it comes from a German reconnaissance unit and was used to travel across mountains and deserts in Crete when it was occupied by Nazis during the war.
The collector, known only as Yannis who sold the bike said: “There are only around 500 of these bikes worldwide so they are collectors pieces like paintings and go up in value all the time.
“It’s a way for wealthy people to invest their money and also enjoy their hobby. Even the parts are expensive is they are original. I had to replace a small piece of metal on this bike and it cost me £1,500.”
