Dohms and Spike Technologies have joined forces to develop a MX machine with an electric drive.
The Dutch companies have got support from Yamaha Europe and the Dutch motorcycle riders’ association KNMV – which suggests things are pretty serious.
Using a conventional Yamaha YZ250F as a base – Spike technologies are supplying the battery, while Dohms is taking care of the electric drive. At this stage, there’s been no official information released – so other than the fact it’s happening, we know very little. There’s no data on engine performance, battery capacity or range.
But the Dutch team behind the project wants to have a bike ready by the end of this year, that’ll be able to hold its own on track against the current crop of 250cc mx machines – so it looks like we won’t have to wait too much longer before more details are revealed.
