The bike was first shown a clear year ago at last year’s Milan show as a prototype and this finished version looks very close to the widely-praised original.
The twin-cylinder 69mm x 66.8mm 500cc engined bike gets 17 inch wheels (a more off-road version will come with a 19 inch front). It’s Euro 4 compliant and gets electronic fuel injection with a DOHC and 4-valves. Max power is 47bhp @ 8,500 and torque is 33ftlb @ 5,000rpm. Gearbox is six speed and the bike has a chain final drive.
The petrol tank is a healthy 20 litres with three litre reserve, the ample fairing has been designed with large wind deflectors which come as standard. The 800mm high seat is deliberately low and sunk ‘into’ the bike for comfort on the road and clearance between bike and rider when off-road.
A trellis frame is finished in black and the forks are upside down, fully adjustable with 135mm of travel, the rear shock is fully adjustable too. Up front the brakes are radial four-piston calipers on 320mm discs, the rear brake is a single piston caliper on a 260mm disc. The bike comes with ABS as standard. The bike tips the scales at 213 dry.
The TRK 502 is expected to go on sale in the first few months of next year. No price has been announced by the factory (not a surprise, it’s not officially launched yet) and the bike is going to come in red, white or grey. Looks great.
