LIMITED EDITION: Tricked out Africa Twins

The Africa Twin’s an icon with some serious off-road pedigree. Based around Honda’s Paris Dakar winning NXR-750, the original AT has a proper cult following among adventurous riders in the know. The ‘new’ version’s built on that successful formula and ‘historic’ prestige, and since its release back in 2016, it’s established itself as one of Honda’s best-selling big bikes. 

With very good reason. It’s a cracking bit of kit that’s proved itself capable of carrying riders across continents on the Tarmac or trails. And that’s exactly what Honda’s own Adventure Roads event proves. 

Going since 2017, it allows ‘normal’ riders to take Africa Twins to some cool places and experience some amazing riding. Sounds good, right? The only problem is that they’ve just wrapped up this year’s one, with 30 riders taking the latest version of Honda’s flagship adventure bike on a 10-day expedition across Morocco. 

While the mega trip across northern Africa has been and gone, you can still get a taste of what it was all about – because Honda’s just confirmed it’s releasing a pair of super-limited-edition ‘Adventure Roads Edition’ Africa Twins.

Available in Manual or DCT trim and kitted out with the electronic suspension system, they feature a sharp, classic Honda tri-colour paint job, and a bunch of adventure-spec goodies including crash bars, engine protection, extra fog lights, and an aluminium radiator guard, too. 

There’s only going to be 75 of the things available, and each will come with its own individually-numbered plaque to prove it. The manual will set you back £15,699 and the DCT will come in at £16,899. That’s about a grand more than the ‘standard’ model, which is actually pretty decent value when you consider all the extras you get included. Chances are you’ll have to move pretty swiftly if you want to get your mitts on one. 

Honda’s also announced that next year’s Adventure Roads series will see riders heading off from Rome across eight countries to finish in Istanbul. Sounds incredible. If you want to register your interest, head over to the website.
