There’s a mega off-road event going on this weekend, the Red Bull Hare Scramble at the Erzberg iron mine in Austria…

Loads of the world’s best off-roaders are taking part in the mass ride, definitely not all of them will finish.

But why should you care about that? Because the Erzberg is legendary for it’s toughness.

And here’s a great video from Red Bull about the history of the event. Well worth watching and enjoying to put what’s going to happen on Saturday into some perspective. Down the years, it’s uncovered some of who we now know as the biggest names in endurance motorcycling. Riders such as Cyril Despres took on the challenge early in their fledgling careers, while Taddy Blazusiak turned plenty of heads when he turned up as an unheralded prospect in 2007 and won on a borrowed machine.
