REVEALED: Honda’s new CB200X

The Japanese factory has just revealed a new small capacity version of its much loved CB500X adventure bike – but it’s probably not going to make it to the UK.

Presented in India, the new Honda CB200X takes obvious inspiration from its bigger brother, with similar bodywork and graphics, a decent size windscreen, handguards, a bash plate and 17 ”wheels shod with dual-sport rubber. But there is some key differences – and the big one’s the motor.

The CB200X is powered by a 184.4cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor, which kicks out 17.2 hp at 8,500 rpm and 16.1 Nm at 6,000 rpm. It’s not the punchiest of engine’s, but those figures aren’t too bad considering the size of the thing.

Suspension comes in the form of USD forks up front and monoshock at the rear. Braking’s provided from a 276mm disc up front and a 220mm disc at the rear (and there’s optional dual channel ABS). The fuel tank is 12 litres, the seat height is 810mm and it weighs in at 147kg.

Expected to go on sale in India this September, there’s been no news about whether or not Honda will bring the bike over to Europe. In all likelihood, probably not – for starters you’d need the same licence to ride the 200 as you would the 500… but there’s always a chance it could be licenced out from one of Honda’s partner manufacturers. Time will tell.
