From now on, it’s Moto3 and Moto2 during the day and the MotoGP lads are being sent out at sunset.
The main reason for the switch from the famously dark, floodlit spectacle of the big race in the middle of a desert is temperature. When the sun goes down, there’s a huge drop in Celsius and it can mean that tyres struggle to get up to the correct temperature. They can also fail to warm up evenly across the carcass of the tyre itself.
So to combat this, Dorna has pulled to race action forward on the timetable so that the heat that remains in the track, is used.
