Royal Enfield WILL compete in the American Flat Track race series – with its Interceptor 650-based FT bike that’s been built with the help of Harris Performance.

We’ve seen custom Royal Enfield flat trackers doing the rounds for a few months now, but things are starting to get official. From next month, the Indian factory will officially enter American Flat Track’s Production Twins class with a trick Interceptor 650 which has built with the help of Harris Performance.

It’s not a massive surprise – Royal Enfield’s FT Concept was supposed to debut back in March. But with events being cancelled far and wide, it’s only now that we’ve got confirmation that the bike’s coming.

Speaking about the news, Enfield’s rider Johnny Lewis said: “The Royal Enfield FT concept has already shown promise so far. We’re already seeing great results from the motorcycle. The team at Harris Performance and Royal Enfield have done a great job with the chassis, and we’ve already begun working through small adjustments based on my feedback. With the way the schedule is shaping out with small tracks, we could surprise many people.”

It’ll be interesting to see how the bike does out on the track – but the real question is whether or not Royal Enfield’s got a production flat tracker in the works. We reckon either of the bikes we’ve seen son far would go down a storm…
