Renowned motorcycle designer Pierre Terblanche and carbon wheel specialist BST have joined forces to reveal an all-new electric motorcycle: the HyperTEK.

Best known for work designing the original Ducati Sport Classic, Multistrada, Hypermotard and 999 Superbike – Terblanche is back in action, teaming up with BST to create this weird and wonderful electric bike. And he said: “This is the best work I’ve ever done.”
Unveiled at EICMA, the futuristic HyperTEK’s a seriously interesting bit of kit. With a monocoque carbon fibre frame and a DHX Hawk electric motor – it kicks out 107bhp and 120 Nm of instantaneous torque. Connected up to a quick charger, it’ll charge in 30-minutes – and (somehow) it’s claimed to return around 186 miles from its 4.75 kWh battery pack.

Given BST’s day job creating top-spec carbon fibre wheels, the HyperTEK is absolutely dripping in carbon fibre. And that means weight has been kept down to a respectable 205kg.
And although it looks like a crazy concept, BST is serious about getting the bike built. The plan is to start production in about 18 months’ time – but with it expected to cost $80,000 (£60,000), you better get saving pretty sharpish.
