Elon Musk CONFIRMS that the Tesla Cyberquad IS going into production!

Tesla’s Elon Musk has taken to Twitter to confirm that the electric ATV ‘Cyberquad’ will be put into production, coming as an option (at first) to those who buy the firm’s newly-launched Cybertruck.

The Cybertruck has ruffled the tech-world’s feathers with zero-emissions and weird bodywork. During the launch a battery-powered quad was loaded onto the truck’s flatbed back. Up until now the watching world had assumed that the four-wheeler ATV was just a bit of dressing for the truck. Musk’s Twitter post has now blown that idea out of the water with the news that the world can buy the Cyberquad.

The, frankly, odd-looking Cyberquad may have battery tech and zero emissions but the proven riding chassis and moving bits of the four-wheeler are actually pretty mainstream. Strip away the angular and boxy bodywork and the electric vehicle is hugely similar to the current Yamaha Raptor 700R SE.

And whilst the Cyberquad (which may NOT end up being the actual name of the thing, this is a tag given to the four-wheeler during the launch) might be mechanically-based on something that is hot snot to get out on from a major Japanese builder, the looks and riding-position tweaks of the Cyberquad look like they are less than ideal.

Ouch. Double ouch

Yes, it might look like something from a 1980s sci-fi film, or the type of ‘future’ vehicle that the bad guys rode in a shelved episode of Street Hawk, but we’re not entirely sure that – as it is – it’s going to be much cop out on rough stuff. Aside from the sharp-edged bodywork (ouch), the riding relationship between the handlebars and the seat look waaaay too in-line. And that seat seems like a very inviting slidey path to allow your most previous bits to interact with the headstock every time you hit the front brake… (double ouch).

Anyway, that aside, it’s happening and Musk has said that you can get one if you buy the electric Cybertruck from the Tesla company in the first instance. Can’t imagine we’ll see any of these at our local motocross track anytime soon though but if we do, we’ll certainly ask for a go on it.
