Ducati has just taken the wraps off its new Streetfighter V4 at the firm’s world premier event. And here’s the first look at the 2020 machine.
Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali, speaking at the world launch of the 2020 model said: “We took the top engine we have, the Desmosedici Stradale, we have a 178kg dry weight and 208bhp – a high handlebar too which means pure adrenaline.
“The beauty of the bike well… this is what our designer did, he looked at face of the Joker from Batman… you see that face and on the front part of the bike we have to have the Joker in the headlights, the face, in everything.”

The Streetfighter has two sets of wings that sprout from where the bike’s radiator shoulders are, Domenicali explained the black bodywork items, adding: “Why are the biplane wings so important on this naked bike? Well, there’s something magic in aerodynamics for stability. At high speeds, a naked bike can suffer but with the wings the bike is better.
“If it’s 120bhp only this isn’t a problem but when the bike gets above 200bhp and you want to open the steering angle or a longer swingarm then to be able to do this you then need to enter a new area of aero. It was so difficult to find this solution.
“It’s taken years to find the right combination and we now have 28kg of downforce at 270kmh now, the bike can still enjoy the mountains but is stable at fast speeds too.
“The Streetfighter makes 14% more torque at 62mph in first gear, in third gear it has 31% more torque. With the Akrapovic slip on mufflers the power can get to 220hp (218bhp).
“This bike is a road bike so the ergonomics have been engineered to make sure it’s comfortable. The seat gets 60mm of foam and a new shape to make it much more comfortable than the sportsbike.
“There are two versions of the bike, the S version has the Ohlins suspension and forged wheel rims also.”
The V4 will cost Euro 19,990 (£17,288 ) and the V4S will cost Euro 22,990 (£19,883) both will be on sale from March next year.
