BSB: James Ellison out of Smiths BMW British Superbike team

James Ellison and Smiths Racing BMW have ‘parted company’ after the seventh round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Thruxton, yesterday. At the current point in the standings, Ellison is in 21st overall whilst teammate Peter Hickman is in 8th.

Ellison crossed the line in 16th place in the opening race at the Hampshire circuit, just missing out on the points, after running inside the top 12 in the earlier stages of the race. Ellison had one of his stronger rides of the season in race two, claiming an 11th place finish.

Darren Jones, Team Co-ordinator commented: “James was on an identical bike to Pete this weekend but unfortunately, he wasn’t able to get the results neither he nor we had hoped for. As a result, we have had a chat and decided that we will go our separate ways so would like to thank James for his efforts this season and we wish him well in the future.”
