Kawasaki’s getting back into the dual-sport game, unveiling its new KLX 230 – to help off-road fans hit the trails on a budget.
We love our small capacity dual sport bikes here at MoreBikes – and straight from Japan, here’s a look at Kawasaki’s new KLX 230. Priced under 500,000 yen (which is around £3,750) – it’s a hell of a bike for the money.
Never mind that though. Here’s what you need to know about Kawasaki’s latest small-capacity trailie. Inspired by Kawasaki’s motocross KX series, the new KLX 230 is slim-line and lightweight – and is powered by an air-cooled 4-stroke 232cc single-cylinder engine. It’s certainly not going to set the world alight – but you can bet on it being super reliable and efficient, as well as being easy to manage for less experienced riders.

It’s got a 21 inch front wheel and an 18 inch rear – so it should be happy on even the trickiest terrain. For braking there’s a two pot caliper with a 265mm petal disc up front, and a single pot caliper with a 220mm petal disc at the rear. Not hugely sophisticated – but more than up to the job.
HERE’S THE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS…

At this stage, that’s about as much as we know about the new KLX. There’s been no news on whether it’ll make it into the UK. We’re keeping our fingers firmly crossed.
