We like Chaz Davies. He’s a supremely talented racer with a good sense of humility and humour that makes him stand out in a racing crowd. So when he takes to Instagram to have a pop at Marco Melandri, we’re interested.
Chaz’ post just keeps tensions nicely bubbling between the pair after the turn 5 clash in the second race at Jerez. Melandri doesn’t see the coming together that brought both riders down as his fault, Chaz does. And so too did the FIM Stewards Panel who deemed the Melandri shove worthy of a six position grid penalty in the Superpole race for the next round at Misano on June 22-23.
After the collision, Melandri said: “It’s unfortunate that Chaz didn’t leave me the same amount of space I left him when the positions were reversed on the previous lap, but for me it was a racing incident and nothing more. Like I said, it’s a shame, because another podium finish was a real possibility today.”
