TT 2019: Qualifying set to resume as forecast improves

Sunday looks like being the day TT 2019 gets back on track, with an afternoon of qualifying for all classes planned.

With no track action since Tuesday due to a prolonged period of overcast and rain, particularly affecting the Mountain section of the TT Course, it will be a relief to fans, riders, teams and organisers to read the latest forecast from the Isle of Man Met Office:

Dull with outbreaks of rain and drizzle this morning, the rain will clear around lunchtime, leaving the rest of the day dry with sunny spells and a strong south to southwest wind. Temperatures around 16 Celsius at best.

Although not perfect by any stretch, especially in comparison to the sunshine of the 2018 event, it represents a marked improvement over a week which has seen the cancellation of nine consecutive practice sessions.

At 08:00 TT organisers confirmed the schedule Sunday’s qualifying session.

Unfortunately the improvement in weather conditions isn’t coming quickly enough for the Simon Andrews Legacy Lap. After a lot of hard work by organisers throughout the year to promote and build the event they had to take the decision to cancel the 2019 running due to thick mist on the Mountain.
