Peter Hickman has joined forces with Norton Motorcycles for 2019 – and is set to ride the British brand’s new Superlight 650 during this year’s Isle of Man Lightweight TT.
Hickman, who’s the current outright lap record holder on the iconic Mountain course, will be joining John McGuinness and Davey Todd on the new Norton 650 twins – as they look to get the British bike builder back on the top step at the TT.
Hickman said: “I’m excited to be riding a British Lightweight bike at the TT. Norton is a great brand, and I’ve spent time at the factory getting to know the bike and the team. The ride also means a lot to me because of my Dad’s history with Norton “I’m fortunate to work with Smiths Racing and massively appreciate the support they give me to ride in other classes and for other teams. Norton understands how integral my relationship with them is. It was a no brainer for the guys to come over and run the bike. It’s mega to be riding with John again and great to have him back at the TT. I’m also looking forward to working with Davey Todd, he’s a top bloke and almost took the fastest ever newcomer title in 2018!”

The Lightweight TT runs on June 5th and is set to be an exciting four-lap battle with Hickman riding alongside 23-time TT winner John McGuinness, and the Fastest Newcomer from 2018, Davy Todd.
peaking about the new Superlight, McGuinness said: “I’m blown away with the Norton Superlight. It’s a class I’ve never raced in so I’m really excited and want to be winning. It’s another opportunity for a win for me and it’s another manufacturer in the class so I’ll be putting my heart and soul into it.”
While Norton’s owner Stuart Garner added: “We believe that we’ve got a very competitive bike for the class and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to secure the best riders as well. Peter took racing around the Mountain Circuit to a new level last year while John has the racing pedigree to do our bike justice. Davey is a hugely talented rider of great promise and we think that we can help him to achieve his potential. What a team!”
