KTM has just unveiled its all-new 450 RALLY replica for 2019 – based on Matthias Walkner’s Dakar-winning machine. And there are only 75 being produced, so if you want to get your hands on one, you better act fast.
But what’s been changed? Well, the KTM 450 RALLY replica’s 450cc SOHC fuel-injection engine offers increased engine power, while its redesigned cylinder head helps to deliver extended durability. An improved transmission system is complemented with a new engine management system and throttle body – and an enhanced air filter box offers more room for the battery and electronic components, and centralises the bikes mass at the same time. That’s not all – the 2019 KTM 450 RALLY replica also boasts a brand-new chassis, tested and developed by factory riders, which KTM claims improves agility in the form of enhanced straight-line and braking stability.

The KTM 450 RALLY replica also features a new swingarm with a reworked linkage and shock absorber – in addition to WP XACT PRO 48mm closed cartridge suspension using sophisticated Cone Valve technology, which works to provide improved traction when accelerating, as well as improving ground clearance. There’s also a softer seat, revised fuel tanks and an updated Akrapovič exhaust system.
Stefan Huber (KTM Factory Rally Team Leader) said: “The all-new KTM 450 RALLY REPLICA is based on our already-successful factory machine that we began racing at the end of last year, which was specifically developed to win the Dakar. With this latest generation, our goal and focus was to develop a bike around the style of our current factory riders, who required something with more comfort, more agility and improved stability. We looked for an improvement in handling, a lower weight, as well as a bike that also meets the demands of the conditions and intensity that we now find at Dakar. The KTM 450 RALLY REPLICA machine is almost identical to those raced by our athletes, and is available for customers to get the opportunity to own and ride a really premium, purpose-developed rally machine with high-quality components and maximum innovation. It’s been truly revised from the ground up, and we are looking forward to seeing these bikes being raced by our customers.”
If you fancy getting your hands on one of the 75 available KTM 450 RALLY REPLICA’s, it’ll cost you just over £23,000. Interestingly, there’s also a service and support package available at the Dakar Rally for an additional cost. For more information contact your local KTM dealer – or click HERE.
