Here’s our first impressions of the NEW BMW R1250 GS – a revised version of the popular adventure machine which comes with more power, more gizmos and more torque for 2019.
The main event for the new GS is its 1254cc ShiftCam motor – which we showed you a first video of last week. In turn, it kicks out a maximum 136bhp of power with that figure coming at 7,750rpm (the previous model had 125bhp at the same revs). Torque-wise the bike has 143Nm @ 6,250rpm (it was 125Nm @ 6,500rpm).

The Boxer ShiftCam variable distribution engine means, according to the Germans, that the bike makes its power more smoothly and delivers better mpg than last year’s model. Of course, there’s a raft of different models available – kitted out with different accessories and aftermarket bits and pieces. The standard R1250GS will set you back £13,415, the R1250GS Rallye will cost £13,950, the R1250GS Rallye TE will be £16,975, the R1250GS TE will cost £16,200, and the R1250GS Exclusive TE will set you back £ 16,500.
