Hamilton has long been a fan of motorcycle racing and has enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with MV Agusta recently, helping to design several motorcycles including the new F4 LH44 – but this is one of the first times we’ve seen him scrape a knee on track.

Hamilton said: “Cal invited me down for a day at the track. What he does is more hardcore than F1. The speeds these guys do, it’s insane. I’ll be back here pushing. The back end has been sliding out. Now I’m hooked.”
Crutchlow added: “We’re out here doing something completely different to what Lewis normally does and having some good fun,”
