In fact, there’s only one more bike still in existence – that was gifted to Planet Hollywood in 1994 – while the bike up for auction was given to the films transportation coordinator, Gordie Merrick. The current owner then purchased the bike directly from Merrick, who’d had it in storage for the past few decades – and then spent a year slowly restoring it back to original condition, replacing the pulley-belt, throttle/brake inner cables, carb seals, oil, air cleaner, spark plug and fuel hose, in addition to repainting the frame back to its original colours. Don’t worry though; he’s kept all the original parts that go with bike. Plus, it comes with a signed letter of authenticity from the original owner.
