At EICMA 2017, Benelli unveiled a huge range of new models that are set to make it to market in 2018 – and our favourite is the Ducati Diavel-inspired 402 S urban cruiser.
Underpinned by an exposed trellis frame which drops down towards the saddle, the Benelli 402 S gets a short sub-frame which almost makes it look like a single-seater until you observe the tiny little pillion seat which sits above the spartan bodywork, split rear lights and licence plate holder and rear turn signals which have been embedded into the rear tyre hugger.

It’s powered by a 399.3cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-valve-per-cylinder, parallel-twin engine, which will pump out 39.4bhp at 9,000rpm and 35Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. Suspension comes in the form of 41mm USD forks up front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking is from two semi-floating 260mm discs with four-piston calipers at the front, along with a single 240mm disc at the rear with ABS offered as standard.
The 402S tips the scales at 160kg, features 17-inch alloys wheels with 120-section rubber at the front and 160-section rubber at the rear, and a 16-litre fuel tank too.
In short, it looks great, cranks out a decent amount of power and should be priced fairly competitively. The all-new Benelli 402 S will be available in the second half of 2018. For more information, visit: www.unitedkingdom.benelli.com
