Sunshine set for this weekend’s Stafford Classic Bike Show

Stop what you’re doing, cancel your plans and clear your diary. This weekend is the Carole Nash Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show, and with two days of sunshine on the cards, it’s the perfect opportunity to get out on the bike before the weather takes a turn for the worse.

It takes place across Saturday and Sunday, October 14-15, at Staffordshire County Showground. Gates open both days at 9am, and you’ll want to arrive as early because there’s plenty to pack in. There are hundreds of trade stands and autojumble plots covering every corner of the show, offering the chance to pick-up classic bike spares, rare parts and projects all in one place.

But, you don’t need a wedge of cash to have a good time at Stafford – there’s plenty to see as well. With club stands, private entry displays, the Restoration Theatre, the Classic Racer GP Paddock, the Classic Dirt Bike Experience, the cavalcade, the Wall of Death – you’ll struggle to squeeze it all in in one day.

Plus, being interviewed on stage throughout the weekend will be legendary Kiwi racer Aaron Slight – undoubtedly the best rider never to win the World Superbike title. There is also a Suzuki Village, which will feature a brace of rare Suzuki’s including the two RG500s which Barry Sheene took to world championship glory in ‘76 and ‘77.

And, don’t forget Bonham’s brilliant Autumn Sale on Sunday too. Among the exotic machinery going under the hammer is Jorge Lorenzo’s Championship-winning ex-works 2007 Aprilia 250cc Grand Prix and an immaculate, unregistered and unused two-stroke Suzuki RG500CH Grand Prix replica with just one mile on the clock. Don’t miss it.

Tickets can be purchased on the gate on both days, with a one-day adult pass costing just £14. Admission for senior citizens is £13 per day and for under-12s get in for £4, plus parking at the showground is free.
