Gene Romero’s Yamaha TZ750 which he rode in the 1977 AMA SBK Championship is being auctioned on eBay.
The machine up for grabs belonged to the ex-racer and Yamaha dealer Donald A. Vesco, who ran the machine for Gene Romero in the AMA SBK Championship. But Don Vesco ‘s real passion was pure speed – and when Romero wasn’t racing the TZ750, Vesco used the bikes engine for his land speed record attempts. The motor was used to help power his Silver Bird Yamaha Speedliner, on which he became the first rider to break the 300mph barrier on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
This rare 1977 TZ750 is in great condition, having recently undergone an engine restoration – and has matching frame and engine numbers. If you fancy checking it out in more detail, click HERE.
