2017 YZF-R6 coming in at just under £11k…

Yamaha has just announced the UK price and vital statistics of its awesome new 2017 YZF-R6 – and with first shipments due on British shores in April, the eagerly anticipated production version of the three-time World Supersport Championship winning machine is nearly here…

The suggested retail price for the UK is £10,999 – which although a couple of grand more than previous models, is a hell of a lot of bike for your money. It features next-gen R-series design features and aerodynamics, and is inspired by its big brother, the R1…

It’s undoubtedly an impressive machine, delivering 87.1 kW (118.4 PS) at 14,500 RPM and torque figures of 61.7 Nm (6.3 kg-m) @ 10,500 RPM. The 599cc, in line, 4-cylinder EU4 compliant engine also runs with some of the most advanced technology ever seen on a YZF-R6.

There’s a new 6-level Traction Control System (TCS) which allows you to select different modes while riding – plus there’s a new Quick Shift System (QSS) which works to facilitate clutchless upshifts and improve acceleration. In addition, the new model benefits from a bunch of technologies pulled straight from the R1 – helping to further improve overall precision and control, and making the new R6 more appealing than ever.
