The next generation Čezeta retains the iconic 1950s design, but really that’s where the similarities end. In contrast to the original machine, the new Čezeta comes jam-packed with mod-cons including an accompanying smartphone app to adjust performance and efficiency, a USB charger, an AC outlet, a reverse gear, Bluetooth speakers, and undercarriage lighting.
It delivers 11kW output, giving a top speed of 120km/h (which is near enough 75 mph) and has the ability to do 0-50 km/h in only 3.2 seconds (which is actually pretty impressive). Importantly, that means it is fast enough to use comfortably on UK roads with an A1 license.
600 Type 506s will be hand-built to order at the Čezeta Motors facility in the Czech Republic this year – and each will be marked to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the first Čezeta, the Type 501. From 2018, the company has further plans to expand production and distribution, and are optimistic we’ll see the 506 outside Europe.
