It’s only a concept, it’s being put forward by people who usually make scooters and own Aprilia and it’s got a degree of artificial intelligence. This is the KILO and GITA project from Piaggio.

Gita is the blue ball (above) whilst Kilo is a larger, three-wheeled version.

What this is is a way of carrying up to 100kg (with Gita) or 120kg (with Kilo) of something you need carrying.

It knows where it is in the real world thanks to a plethora of sensors constantly monitoring it surroundings, the system can also follow a person if that person is wearing a belt that’s also loaded with sensors that relay movement information back to the ball-on-wheels.

There’s nothing about price or when these might actually appear, it’s just an idea and all that – but given that this is a spacial-aware intelligent bit of tech, how long before what’s found here finds some of its way onto things with two wheels?
