Avon Tyres factory to close at end of year

Avon Tyres will close its Wiltshire factory at the end of 2023.

Avon Tyres have been manufactured on the Melksham site since 1904. By the 1950s and 60s Avon was producing 1.5 million tyres a year.

However, profits have declined dramatically over the past few decades, dropping from £4.3 million in 1993 to only £6,873 in 2020.

The factory is the last operating motorcycle tyre production facility in the UK.
