We don’t know if you’ve heard, but Hackney Council are planning to start charging motorcycles, all motorcycles, mopeds and scooters, petrol or electric, to park in the borough at a rate of £6 an hour!
What’s more is they’re planning to charge residents for parking permits (up to £850 a year), and businesses up to £1,800 a year. They’re also effectively banning commuting as they’re imposing four-hour maximum stay limits in most motorcycle bays.

Save London Motorcycling and MAG are organising a joint protest ride on 10th September against the above parking proposals. You can find out more on on the London MAG Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/events/624203142336307 or the Save London Motorcycling website: https://sites.google.com/view/savelondonmotorcycling
Save London Motorcycling (SLMC) created a petition against Hackney’s plans for motorcycle parking, but they need as many people to sign this petition as possible. At the time of writing, they have more than 5,000 signatures, but they really need 7,500 to have any chance of getting the Council to listen to them so please sign and share below. This is how SLMC forced Camden to listen to them so if they get enough signatures to this maybe they can do the same with Hackney:
This, you may think, only affects Londoners, but these things have a habit of spreading once one’s been established, and it won’t be long before we see these kind of charges spreading out to other towns and cities if this is allowed to get through, so please sign the petition event if you don’t live in London, thank you!
