Guy Martin is going to leave bikes behind for a temporary turn in the British Rallycross Championship later this year.
The car Martin is going to race is a round-winning Ford Focus WRC, it’ll enter the race in the Supercar class in the series – a date has yet to be set but the two favourite rounds for the outing are either Croft or Lydden.

According to reports, the race is going to happen as part of the next television series for channel four. Martin is going to drive a Jos Kupyers built Focus, a car that won the French round of the 2012 European Championship.
That car is owned by racer Ollie O’Donovan and prepared by Tony Bardy Motorsport. O’Donovan also won two British Championship events in the car back in 2014.
Speaking to Rallycrossworld, Martin said: “It’s something different and that always excites me.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge some time later in the year subject to other commitments.”
O’Donovan added: “Guy is a huge name. Many people will know who he is without being heavily into motorsport or bike racing. It’s a pleasure to have him compete as part of our team.
“I’m sure Guy will have no problem learning to drive the car, but we will go through everything with him at a test session to give him the best chance possible at whichever event he does. We’re all really excited to be working with him, he’s a real racer and I think rallycross will suit him very well.”
Martin is due to get a full day of testing in the car at some point over the early summer.
