Yamaha issues global recall on all 2015 YZF-R1s.

Yamaha is carrying out a global recall of all 2015 YZF-R1 motorcycles after a possible issue was picked up with the gearbox.

A fortnight ago, we told you about rumours doing the rounds in the States that the recall was about to happen, but back then nobody knew if this was only going to effect USA-models or include a wider spread of global bikes.

Well now the factory has decided that all bikes are effected and has sent out notifications to all owners.

There can be an issue with some of the gears when the bike is ridden extremely hard on track. The notification explains that the faults found around the gearbox will be fixed for free at an approved Yamaha dealer. It’s not a quick job though, Yamaha USA says that it expects the work to take up to nearly 16 hours on each bike to complete.
