The new Panigale 959 was launched during the Ducati global launch of the 2016 range at the EICMA event in Milan, today. And whilst there’s lots about the bike that makes for interesting reading, it’ll be the piggy-back exhausts that’ll grab a lot of attention.

Claudio Domenicali explained the bike, saying: “On the road you don’t need the super excess of horsepower, most riders like and prefer the balance of the bike to be just right. With that in mind we wanted to produce a bike that delivers the style and balance of the Panigale.”
The bike that was ridden on stage by WSB ride Davide Guigiano was fitted with a piggyback exhaust, Ducati went on to explain that the mid-size bike is 6% up in power to 157bhp and has 107.4nm of torque which is 8% more than the previous model.
The whole bodywork and mirrors are from the 1299 Panigale, the piggy-back exhaust is Euro 4 compliant. The bike also gets machined aluminium footrests and a 4mm lower swingarm pivot.
USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia only will get the bike as standard with the more usual under engine exhaust – we will have the piggy-back design as standard although a homologated Titanium under-engine exhaust will be available from the factory.
