Guy Martin to miss 2016 TT race for mountain bike event instead?
It’s a huge worry for Guy Martin TT fans, but it sounds like it’s on the cards – Guy Martin seems likely to miss this year’s Isle of Man TT races.
A recent post on his You Tube channel has sparked the paddock rumblings, this is what Guy said: “I know exactly what’s happening it’s just I might have to upset a few people. That’s happening, and I know it’s happening it’s just how I’m going to make it happen.

“I’m not double minded now I was up until two weeks ago. 100% these things are not happening, because these things are happening. It’s probably taken me six weeks since my crash to make my mind up but it’s made up now and I’m happy.”
It sounds as though the Lincolnshire man will swap the road racing even on The Island for a mountain bike time trial instead, Guy told Freestyle Xtreme magazine: “There’s so much I still want to do and I’m planning on doing the Tour Divide next year, which is the toughest mountain bike time trial on the planet.”
The Tour Divide isn’t set to any exact date year-on-year but for 2016 the 2745-mile long ride across the Rocky Mountains in Canada is set to start the week after the TT race event in June, Guy said: ” It starts the week after the TT, so I’d need to be there preparing that week.”
Add to that recent news that Martin’s 2015 TT team, Tyco BMW, has said that Ian Hutchinson will ride the German bike in next year’s TT race – but made no comment about the second rider or bike in the squad and it seems increasingly likely that Guy Martin will not take part at the TT in 2016.
