Older bikes will have to pay £12.50 to ride in London

Plans have gone through to charge motorbike riders £12.50 to ride in the London congestion charge zone.

This has happened as part of the new Ultra Low Emissions Zone, a system that’s going to come into action in 2020. Currently, motorcycles are exempt from the emissions charges in London.

The ruling says that motorcycles over 13 years old will have to pay the charge because they won’t be able to meet the Euro 3 enigne emission standard.

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson said: “The world’s first ULEZ is an essential measure to improve air quality in our city, protect the health of Londoners, and lengthen our lead as the greatest city on earth.”
