The famous tea hut at High Beech in Epping Forest, Essex has been saved.
Bert’s Tea Hut has been serving up cuppas to bikers for 85 years, but was under threat of losing it’s location as the local authorities proposed putting it out to tender.

A petition to save the hut – supported by MoreBikes – was signed by more than 9,000 people and was handed to the Director of open spaces at the Guild Hall on the Square Mile, and ensured awareness of the value of the hut.
After lengthy talks, the tender has thankfully been awarded back to Mr Melton (whose family have run the business for some five generations).
