“For our highly desirable model this month we’ve chosen the Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Limited. Still the ultimate bike of its type, this fully dressed V-Twin tourer has a loyal following. So long as you carry out a history check to ensure the one you’re looking at is what it claims to be – for instance, that it hasn’t been written-off and isn’t still on finance – then this is a bike worth paying a premium for.
“In terms of bikes that hold their value, safe bets don’t come much safer than the Yamaha MT-07. Yamaha has hit the right note with the new MT range. These bikes make a lot of sense in terms of real world riding and are sensibly priced. Well-maintained examples should go on to do well for second owners and beyond. As always, do your homework and check before you buy.
“For our used star we’ve chosen the Triumph Scrambler. The options in this genre have increased with the launch of the new Ducati Scrambler, but the Triumph has that true retro feel about it which fits the bill perfectly. When it comes to negotiating, remember, as well as revealing a bike’s history, MyMotorCycleCheck.com also provides valuations – a great tool for haggling with dealers or private sellers.”
As to market trends, Hobson commented: “While the used market has slowed for winter in terms of overall demand, values have remained relatively strong and we expect demand to pick up sharply once the weather improves in a couple of months.”
