New for 2015, the Watsonian GT4 is a contemporary sports touring sidecar. Based on the popular RX4 body shell, the original 5-spoke 13” alloy wheel is replaced with a 15” split rim style item, fitted with a 205/50 R15 sports profile tyre. The mudguard also gets a makeover, updated to a minimalist hugger-style with combined LED tail light/indicator unit. Integrated into the chassis is a passenger step, fitted with a front LED indicator.
The wrap-around screen section folds up for easy access to the cockpit, revealing a 76 cm wide bench seat that is comfortable for an adult plus child or two children. There is plenty of luggage space in the lockable boot, which measures 63 x 76 x 53 cm. Overall dimensions are 226 cm long x 102 cm wide and the GT4 weighs 98 kg. Prices start at £6195.

Another introduction for 2015 is a fitting kit to pair the classic Watsonian Meteor sidecar with a Royal Enfield Continental GT cafe racer, creating a retro outfit with pedigree. Based on a design dating back to 1946, the original Meteor was built using redundant aircraft reserve fuel tanks and its light aerodynamic design complements the lines of the cafe racer perfectly. The Meteor sits on a tubular steel chassis, which is uprated from the 1940’s design with addition of a shock-absorber and 16″ wheel. Its fold-down screen is mounted on a cast aluminium bar in front of the cockpit and the seat tilts forward to provide access to storage space behind. Prices for the Meteor start at £3995.
The popular wide-bodied GP700 sidecar is now available in British Racing Green gel coat for £6095. Various different seat trims are also on offer, including tan leatherette with green piping. Prices vary according to specification.
Watsonian have been making sidecars in the Heart of England since 1912 and frequently feature on television, including a recent appearance on Britain’s Got Talent earlier in the year.
