We thought we’d seen it all after the Batman helmet. Turns out we were wrong, very wrong. We have just spotted the Neko helmets that are sold on a Russian website, and they are, well, something else. They look more like Hello Kitty masks than helmets, and the design doesn’t stop at adding massive ear to a helmet – oh no! The helmets also boast optional feline graphics, so you can choose whether to look like a house cat or something out of the jungle.
The extraordinary helmets originate from Nitrinos motostudio. They were originally produced for a festival of Japanese culture in 2011, and became publicly available soon after.
The helmet is based on the IXS-1000, equipped with fiberglass ears firmly fixed to the body of the helmet. The manufacturer claims that up to a speed of 100km/h, the ears don’t generate additional resistance (we’d take that with a pinch of salt).
Neko helmets weigh 1780 grams and are available in sizes: XS-XL. Each Neko-helmet is made to order within 2-4 weeks. Delivery is free and takes 1-3 weeks depending on location.
If you want a closer look (and who wouldn’t), here’s a 360 degree view of the helmet:
