Alpinestars Stella T-Jaws Waterproof jacket| £189.99 | www.alpinestars.com | Tested by: Carli Ann Smith
If you’re after the sports look and fit but want the waterproof benefits of a good quality, textile jacket then the Stella T-Jaws Waterproof jacket from Alpinestars is a good shout. It’s designed for a female-specific fit and goes in and out in all the right places – without bulking you out and making you look like an American football player.

The jacket is cut longer at the back so that you don’t get a pesky gap between your trousers and jacket and there’s a connector zip so you can attach your Alpinestars riding trousers. There’s d-ring and Velcro waist adjustment and Velcro on the wrists to fasten them tight.
The outer shell is an advanced poly-nylon textile with abrasion and tear resistant properties and it’s been reinforced with PU for additional aqua-repellent performance. There’s a waterproof and breathable membrane too for extra protection from the elements. Having ridden in the rain in it in numerous occasions, I remained dry as a bone underneath and my belongings in the inner waterproof pocket did too.
There are two pockets on the outside with zip fastenings; Velcro topped chest pockets on the inside of the liner on the jacket and the inside of the outer shell.
It has CE certified armour on the elbows and shoulders and there’s a foam protector in a back protector pocket too – although I’ve taken that out as I wear a separate back protector.
On the colder days you’ll appreciate the thermal liner and on those warmer days (yes they do happen sometimes) take out the liner, open up the vents on the shoulders/sleeves and you’ll be pleased to feel a draught.
I’m seriously impressed with this jacket – it’s versatile, looks great and fits well.
