Get set for another unique mix of classic endurance racing, high profile support races, classic track sessions, parades and show bikes filling the paddocks of Donington Park for this year’s Endurance Legends event – which takes place across May 12-13 2018.
The 2018 running looks set to build on the successes of last year’s inaugural event, and showcase classic endurance racing at its best.
Organisers Classic Bike Track Days have been beavering away with Gordon Russell and some of the European race teams and event organisers to align all of the European endurance rules to enable all European classic race machines built up to and including December 1986 to race together in a true European classic endurance series – and the result is the European Endurance Legend Cup.
Darin Frow from CBT explained: “This will be the umbrella organisation with a common set of rules and regs under which each organiser will run their own event, with a representative present at each round to ensure eligibility is adhered to and to help with any language problems. Collectively we all felt that we have to keep the EELC and races ‘classic’ as the later aluminium beam-framed bikes would not only disrupt the level playing field, but risk removing the diversity of the great machines campaigned by those that just love their old Beemers, Laverdas and fire breathing air-cooled fours.”
The Endurance Legends at Donington Park will be the ‘home’ race of the new series, with the other rounds taking place at Paul Ricard (March 23-25), Oscherslaben (in June), and there’s another round that’s still to be confirmed.
In addition, Endurance Legends will once again play host to the Lansdowne Classic Series for those who love the sound of big singles – plus there’s going to be some GP Originals action, as some very original TZs take to the tarmac.
Donington will be jam-packed with clubs and stands, and there will be some time available on track if you fancy taking your classic around Donington Park’s glorious curves. And the Melbourne Loop will once more be a separate live arena, with demos, sidecar ride-ons and more.
