British motorcycle maker Norton Motorcycles has gone into administration. The company, based in Leicestershire has been reportedly struggling to pay a £300,000 tax bill and recently faced a winding-up order from the HRMC offices over outstanding amounts to pay.
The administration order now puts around 100 jobs at risk at the company’s Castle Donington assembly plant.
Lee Causer, of administrators BDO, said: “We are taking all necessary steps to ensure that customers, staff and suppliers are supported through the administration process.
“Our job is to determine and execute the most appropriate strategy as swiftly as possible to protect creditors’ interests, bearing in mind the need to minimise distress for all parties.”

Norton Motorcycle’s owner, Stuart Garner’s two other companies are also reported to be in administration, one of which is his Priest House Hotel in Castle Donington.
