SPY SHOTS: All-new KTM 890 DUKE caught TESTING on track. Coming for 2020.

Spy shots have emerged which show KTM’s gearing up to release a larger capacity version of its hugely successful 790 Duke.

First published on German site Motorrad, KTM’s new Duke 890 has been caught on camera out on track, with ex-MotoGP racer and KTM development rider Jeremy McWilliams at the helm. And that tells us KTM is serious about this bike.

It’s clear that there’s some proper testing going on because the test bike’s covered in wires and electronics – but we’re exactly sure why KTM’s choosing to increase the displacement of its range-defining naked sportbike. It could be a reaction to the imminent introduction of Euro 5 emissions regulations – with the Austrian brand trying to find a way to maintain (or even improve) the Duke’s 105hp of power.

Equally, it could be concentrating on producing an even more aggressive version of its middleweight naked – much like the recently introduced 890cc-powered Krämer Motorcycles GP-2, which kicks out 130hp and 100Nm of torque.

The new Duke also gets some new Brembo brake calipers, a new radial brake pump from Brembo and adjustable front suspension. It’s also likely to get an adjustable rear shock too. At this stage, that’s about as much as we know about KTM’s new 890 Duke – but thankfully it looks like we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out more. Expect for it to be unveiled at EICMA 2019 this November.
