Husqvarna has just announced the release of its new FS 450 supermoto – and here’s a brief breakdown of what you’ll get if you’ve got ten grand to spend on your next race machine.
Husqvarna’s FS 450 is the only factory-built, single-cylinder competition supermoto machine available on the market – and since its inception, it’s continued to prove itself as a serious bit of race machinery.
Having undergone some major changes for 2019, the 2020 FS 450 hasn’t exactly been overhauled. It still weighs in just shy of 100kg – and continues to be powered by the same compact 450cc engine (which kicks out a claimed 63hp), but it does get a range of subtle updates to make the latest machine better than ever.

It comes with factory-installed launch control and basic traction control as standard. And although that might not sound all that special, particularly against current road bike standards, that’s quite a package for what’s essentially an off-road machine. Suspension components have been changed for 2020 too – with 48mm WP XACT forks replacing the old 48mm AER units that were first introduced to the FS 450 last year, while a WP XACT shock completes the setup at the rear. It also comes with Alpina wheels (16.5″ up front, 17″ at the rear) – and for 2020 they’re clad with Bridgestone slicks right out of the factory. Pretty cool… Oh and there’s also a new blacked out exhaust can too.
