During last night’s qualifying session, it was time for the Formula Two Sidecars to get out on the Mountain Course – and it was the partnership of John Holden and Lee Cain who came out on top, with 114.99mph lap.
Surprisingly, the Birchalls were a little off the pace, lapping at 111.55mph which put them fifth quickest behind Pete Founds and Jevan Walmsley (112.90mph), Alan Founds and Jake Lowther (111.89mph) and Lewis Blackstock and Patrick Rosney (111.80mph). Meanwhile, Newcomers Ryan and Callum Crowe had a great start to racing on the island, putting in an impressive 109.76mph lap on their 675cc Triumph.
Not everyone managed to get a full lap in though – with Tim Reeves and Mark Wilkes stopping to make adjustments to their sidecar, while Dave Molyneux and Harry Payne were forced to retire at Laurel Bank.
