It’s been a bike that the whole motorcycle world has been watching in close detail with loads of pre-launch photographs and videos – but KTM has finally given the spec away of the punchy middleweight at EICMA. There’s no surprises in the spec, it’s a solid motorcycle built to get gnarly off-road.
From the top, the bike’s engine is a 799cc, 2-cylinder, 4-stroke DOHC parallel-twin with a bore and stroke of 88mm x 65.7mm.
It comes with Bosch EMS and RBW systems, has an electric starter and a six-speed box.
The chassis features a Chro-Mo-Steel frame using the engine as a stressed element, front forks are 48mm WP upside down units and the rear is a WP-monoshock with PDS. There’s 240mm of travel on the bike’s suspension at front and rear.
The front brake is two radially-mounted 4-piston calipers gripping a 320mm diameter disc and on the back is a 2-piston floating caliper holding a 260mm disc.
The ABS system is taken care of by a Bosch 9.1MP unit including Cornering ABS and allroad mode (which is disengageable).
The bike’s steering head angle is 63.7 degrees, there’s 263mm of ground clearance and it has a seat height of 880mm. Fuel-wise, the tank can hold a respectable 20 litres and without fuel (but with everything else it needs to run) the bike tips the scales at 189kg.
