We’ve been sent this fantastic footage which shows Kenny Roberts and Randy Mamola tearing round Laguna Seca on 500cc two-strokers, with plenty of back wheel action, during the 1985 Champion Spark Plug 200 GP round.

The action mainly features triple 500cc World Champion Kenny Roberts, taking on racer-turned-TV commentator Randy Mamola – with some fantastic wheelies in the process. Awesome right? Even if it does make today’s MotoGP action look a bit soulless.

Mamola came back from Europe and Kenny Roberts came out of retirement for the now iconic race – as the two chased each other through both legs of the 200-kilometer race, with Roberts winning the first leg and Mamola winning the second. Mamola was then declared the winner based on a shorter overall time.
